CRITICAL

Do NOT run SnipeBrowserBundleXP-32bit.zip on Windows XP 64-bit. That one-click installer is for 32-bit XP SP3 only. Running it on x64 can destroy the system.

OS requirements

Automatic install (one-click)

Install: XP x64 SP2 (Office and Browser on one PC)

Step 1: SnipeOffice

1. Download and extract SnipeofficeXP-64Bit.zip
2. Log in as Administrator
3. Run Install-SnipeOffice-WinXP.bat
4. Reboot whenever prompted; run the same bat again after each reboot until finished
5. Reboot once more before first use of SnipeOffice
6. Confirm Snipe Office Writer opens from the desktop shortcut

Step 2: SnipeBrowser (standalone setup exe only)

You must finish Step 1 (SnipeOffice) first. One-Core API from that install adds the OCA Compatibility tab. Without it, these steps will not work.

1. Download 5-SnipeBrowser-140.0.7339.127-win-x86-xp-setup.exe from this Archive item. Save it somewhere you can find it (for example Desktop or My Documents). Do NOT double-click it yet. Do NOT run it yet.
2. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer. Browse to the folder where you saved the file. You should see 5-SnipeBrowser-140.0.7339.127-win-x86-xp-setup.exe in the file list.
3. Right-click on 5-SnipeBrowser-140.0.7339.127-win-x86-xp-setup.exe (use the right mouse button on the file icon).
4. On the menu that appears, left-click Properties (usually at the bottom of the list).
5. In the Properties window, click the Compatibility tab at the top. (After SnipeOffice installed One-Core API, this is the OCA compatibility tab.)
6. Open the version drop-down on that tab and select Windows 10.
7. Click Apply, then OK. Close the Properties window.
8. Now double-click 5-SnipeBrowser-140.0.7339.127-win-x86-xp-setup.exe to run the installer. If you run the file before setting Windows 10 on the Compatibility tab, the installer will crash.
9. Follow the installer wizard to the end.
10. Reboot if prompted.
11. Launch Snipe from the desktop shortcut the installer creates.

The Windows 10 setting is for the install phase only. SnipeOffice already installed system-wide OCA. Do NOT install a second OCA pack. Do NOT set Windows 10 for normal browsing after install.

Install: XP x86 SP3 (Browser only)

1. Upgrade to Windows XP SP3 first
2. Download and extract SnipeBrowserBundleXP-32bit.zip
3. Log in as Administrator
4. Run Install-SnipeBrowser-WinXP.bat
5. Reboot whenever prompted; run the same bat again until finished
6. Reboot before first browser launch

Install: XP x64 SP2 (Office only)

Manual install (download loose prerequisite files)

Download the prerequisite exes listed in the manifest below. Run them in order, rebooting when prompted. For the browser on XP x64: download 5-SnipeBrowser-140.0.7339.127-win-x86-xp-setup.exe, right-click the file, Properties, Compatibility tab, set Windows 10, Apply, OK, then double-click to run. Do NOT run the setup before setting Compatibility to Windows 10.

Browser first-run notes

• First launch may show "unsupported command-line switch". Close the dialog. Harmless, once only.
• GPU acceleration is off by default; enable at chrome://settings if your hardware allows
